The Formula Atlantic driver perhaps got the best of the qualifying sessions. The skies mostly clear with temperatures finally starting to creep into the fifties the improving weather had to be a welcome sight.
The times however wouldn’t prove to be too much of a departure from the practice sessions showing that track conditions remain tricky. Early on times were slow, but Dario Cangialosi race winter at Road Atlanta, immediately started showing potential. Flinn Lazier however wasn’t giving out any gifts. After his car came up to temperature his times quickly dropped.
Dudley Fleck was also in the hunt, though ultimately he never had the pace to challenge either Cangialosi or Fleck. On Cangialosi’s ninth lap he found some magic and lopped six tenths off his fast time. This allowed him to him to leap frog Lazier taking the pole position, but the difference is less than a tenth between the two. Fleck secured the third starting spot, Lee Alexander fourth, and Rich Zober fifth.
